Introduction

Don’t let anyone look down on you because you are young, but set an example for the believers in speech, in life, in love, in faith and in purity.

1Timothy 4:12

Youth Fellowship (YF) is simply what it means – a fellowship for youths. But it is in existence for the sole purpose of nurturing youths into people who grow in love for Christ and through that learn to serve God and people.

At PJGH’s YF, we want to see a vibrant community of God fearing-mission minded youth who are passionate about living worship lives that exhibit the fruit of the Spirit, building on the foundation of knowing God.

The Objectives of Youth Fellowship
  • Establish a community of young believers who use their talents and peer connections to advance the gospel
  • Prepare young people to hold to and to defend Biblical truth in the "real world"
  • Encourage prayer, praise, and Bible study as a joyful lifestyle
Strategy and Programmes

1) Meaningful Fellowship

YF hopes to develop meaningful company that allows the youths to mutually encourage one another in their faith. Apart from having fun together, it provides the opportunity for them to learn to love, share and care for one another. Furthermore, the discipleship and mentoring between the older and younger youths assists this as being vital for spiritual growth in each and every youth

2) Good Fun

If seen in simple terms, YF is also one of the means of entertainment – healthy entertainment for Christian youths. In this small society, they share the same growth spurts, the same interests, the same games and the same laughs that can be enjoyed together.

3) Purposeful Bible Study

Bible study is a key element in our YF. It is the cry of YF to have God’s word rooted in the hearts of the youths and from there, help them blossom in their knowledge and Christ-likeness. It provides a foundation for them a now as youth and before they face a whole new and different phase of life – adulthood!

As much as these objectives are part of what is envisioned for YF, all that it is today is owed to God’s faithfulness. And we hope that you will pray with us for God to continue the good work He has started in this ministry.

The YF at PJGH meets every Saturday from between 3.30pm -6pm at the church premises.

If you have been thinking/are thinking/possibly will think of serving in YF, we would gladly welcome:

Musicians
We need musicians to play for our worship sessions as well as musicians to TRAIN our youths to play for our worship sessions.

Organize Games
We always appreciate new fun game ideas. If you have a few fun games up your sleeve, we will enjoy working with you putting it together.

Planning for youth camp
Youth camp this year will be held from the 8th – 10th of December. We would greatly welcome anyone who is willing to lend a hand in planning and organizing the camp.

If you are interested in getting involved, please feel free to speak to any of the YF teachers and committee members. If it fits, we will surely welcome your involvement!

Thought for the Week:

Mercy Compared to Forgiveness, Love, and Grace

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

Matthew 5:7

To understand the significance of mercy, let’s compare it to three amazing attributes of God. First, mercy has much in common with forgiveness, although it is distinct from it. God’s forgiveness of our sins flow from His mercy. But mercy is greater than forgiveness, because God is merciful to us even when we do not sin, just as we can be merciful to those who have never done anything against us. God’s mercy does not just forgive our transgressions but reaches to all weaknesses and needs.

Just as forgiveness flows out of mercy, mercy flows out of love. “But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (Eph.2:4-5). Love is greater than mercy – it can manifest itself even when there is no wrong to forgive or need to meet.

Finally, mercy is also related to grace, which flows out of love. Grace and mercy have the closest possible relationship, yet they are different. Mercy deals with the consequences of sin, while grace deals with sin itself. Mercy offers relief from punishment, grace offers pardon for the crime.

Just look at what the Good Samaritian did. When he found a Jewish traveler who had been robbed and beaten, he held no animosity toward him. Love motivated him to show the man mercy when he bound up his wounds. And when he took him to an inn and cared for him, he showed grace. Such is the expression of mercy working with forgiveness, love and grace.

Ask yourself: Is there someone to whom you need to show God’s mercy, expressed through your love, your grace, our forgiveness? Think of how you can turn your merciful intentions into practical action
