Introduction The Senior Citizen Ministry at PJGH provide a variety of programs to meet the physical, emotional, social and spiritual needs of the senior citizens in the church and the community. A person's age is something impressive, it sums up their life: maturity reached slowly and against many obstacles, illnesses cured grieves and despairs overcome, and unconscious risks taken; maturity formed through so many desires, hopes, regrets, forgotten things, loves. A person's age represents a fine cargo of experiences and memories. ANON Even when I am old and gray, do not forsake me, O God, till I declare your power to the next generation, your might to all who are to come. Strategy and ProgramsPeriodic meetings are being held to meet the needs of Senior Citizens, e.g., health care, gracious living, writing of wills, etc. Members will participate in regular programs to encourage and meet the needs of one another, e.g., keep in touch with one another via the telephone, visitation, praying for one another, help in performing errands, doing small group bible study, etc. The formation of a care group, named Amos to comprise Senior Citizens. The group meets on the 2nd and 4th Wednesday of each month at 11.00am at the church premises. The fortnightly meeting of Amos care group helps to build up relationship with one another and provided the opportunity for Senior Citizens to study together In addition, some members are conducting fortnightly small group bible study at one of the elderly homes in the vicinity, namely, Grace Villa. The bible study is held on the 1st and 3rd Wednesday of each month. |
