Introduction

The name “Ladies In Touch” embodies the aspiration of the ministry that ladies be in touch with God, with themselves and with others.

Its acronym “LIT” echoes our prayer that our meetings would always be lit by the warmth of God’s love and by the illuminative power of God’s Word.

Proverbs 31: 10-30 (NIV)

10 A wife of noble character who can find?
She is worth far more than rubies.

11 Her husband has full confidence in her
and lacks nothing of value.

12 She brings him good, not harm,
all the days of her life.

13 She selects wool and flax
and works with eager hands.

14 She is like the merchant ships,
bringing her food from afar.

15 She gets up while it is still dark;
she provides food for her family
and portions for her servant girls.

16 She considers a field and buys it;
out of her earnings she plants a vineyard.

17 She sets about her work vigorously;
her arms are strong for her tasks.

18 She sees that her trading is profitable,
and her lamp does not go out at night.

The Objectives of LIT

  • To provide an opportunity for ladies to meet together for friendship and fellowship.
  • To minister to the needs of ladies
  • To build ladies up in the faith and in the Word of God.
  • To provide a platform for ladies to use their gifts and to serve others.
  • To share the gospel with non-Christian ladies.

LIT Meeting

The LIT meeting is held on the first Sunday of each month. The ladies would enjoy fellowship over refreshments from 3.45 pm. till 4.15 pm followed by the main programme which normally ends at about 6pm.

The programme usually includes a time of worship, an “item” and a message. The decision to have a message at every meeting is in line with the high priority this ministry accords to the objective of building and developing ladies in the faith and in the Word of God.

There is a set theme taken from a key verse from the Scripture for each half of the year and the topics of the messages are derived from the theme. The messages are also geared to meet the felt needs of ladies, An “item” serves to make the meeting more interesting and can take the form of the sharing of a recipe, a health talk, a workshop, a skit, a rendition of songs/music, etc.

We have special programmes for Mother’s Day, Easter, and Christmas, which are more elaborate and evangelistic in nature.

Thought for the Week:

Mercy Compared to Forgiveness, Love, and Grace

Blessed are the merciful, for they shall receive mercy.

Matthew 5:7

To understand the significance of mercy, let’s compare it to three amazing attributes of God. First, mercy has much in common with forgiveness, although it is distinct from it. God’s forgiveness of our sins flow from His mercy. But mercy is greater than forgiveness, because God is merciful to us even when we do not sin, just as we can be merciful to those who have never done anything against us. God’s mercy does not just forgive our transgressions but reaches to all weaknesses and needs.

Just as forgiveness flows out of mercy, mercy flows out of love. “But God, being rich in mercy, because of His great love with which He loved us, even when we were dead in our transgressions, made us alive together with Christ (Eph.2:4-5). Love is greater than mercy – it can manifest itself even when there is no wrong to forgive or need to meet.

Finally, mercy is also related to grace, which flows out of love. Grace and mercy have the closest possible relationship, yet they are different. Mercy deals with the consequences of sin, while grace deals with sin itself. Mercy offers relief from punishment, grace offers pardon for the crime.

Just look at what the Good Samaritian did. When he found a Jewish traveler who had been robbed and beaten, he held no animosity toward him. Love motivated him to show the man mercy when he bound up his wounds. And when he took him to an inn and cared for him, he showed grace. Such is the expression of mercy working with forgiveness, love and grace.

Ask yourself: Is there someone to whom you need to show God’s mercy, expressed through your love, your grace, our forgiveness? Think of how you can turn your merciful intentions into practical action
