Introduction

The Sunday School Ministry at PJGH grows out of Jesus’ words in Mark 10:14, when Jesus saw this, he was indignant. He said to them, "Let the little children come to me, and do not hinder them, for the kingdom of God belongs to such as these”.

In the midst of ministering to adults, Jesus did not neglect but regularly ministered to children. We believe the future of the church depends on effective ministry to children today.

The objectives of Sunday School

  • To teach children lessons based on the Bible
  • To provide group activities like singing and games
  • To encourage them to know and believe in the Lord Jesus Christ

Strategy and Programmes

Teachers are assigned to teach in the same class for two consecutive years. This is to enable them to establish a more personal relationship with the children they teach.

Currently there are some 40 to 60 children ranging from age 5 to 12 who attend Sunday School. These children are children of our members, and children from the neighbourhood. The PJGH Sunday School is run weekly except for school holidays and start at 11.30am and finishing by 1pm.

The following are some of the programmes offered:

  • Weekly singing and lessons
  • Programmes to celebrate events like Mothers’ Day, Easter and Christmas
  • Picnics and outings
  • Yearly Prize Giving Day
  • Jesus Explorer

Thought for the Week:

The Two Ways

Enter through the narrow gate….that leads to life and there are few who find it.

Matthew 7:13-14

The way that is broad is easy, attractive, inclusive, permissive and self-oriented way of the world. It has few rules, few restrictions and few requirements. All you need to do is profess Jesus or at least seem religious and you’ll be accepted into the group.

The narrow way is the hard and demanding way – the way of self-denial and the cross. When Jesus was asked,”Lord, are there just a few who are being saved?” He replied, “Strive to enter though the narrow door, for many, I tell you, will seek to enter and will not be able” (Lk 13 : 23 – 24).The Greek word for strive indicates that entering the door to God’s kingdom takes conscious, purposeful and intense effort.

The narrow way is for those who wants God’s kingdom at any cost. Make sure that you are following Christ as Lord along that narrow way. We certainly live amid a “broad way” mentality but Christ has shown us otherwise that we should live on His Word and ways.

We thank Thee, O blessed Master, that Thou hast forgiven us our sins and has made us Thine forever through your precious blood. Amen.
